An Impossible Dream?

An Impossible Dream?

Is that what we dream? An impossible dream? Is there such a thing?

Don Quixote, the brilliantly written fictional character, has a thing or two to teach. He’s a loveable, eccentric, faith – filled fellow who lives in his own mind space and sees the world with different eyes. He is set on lifting the world beyond a more sorry state so that others may reside in a more chivalrous state, filled with morals and values that he believes count. Is he brilliant or …

Good Music For the Ears But Better For the Soul

Good Music For the Ears But Better For the Soul

I love it when words, music, and a beautiful visual come together. This video includes good for the ears, but even better for the heart and soul.  Patrick Henry Hughes is an amazing young man. His dad is hero. They both exemplify the kind of values most of us want to have at the core of Who We Are. These men? Genuine inspiration!

Please check out this beautiful video. There are so many good things to say about it, I’d rather you watch and enjoy …

Good And Cold

Good And Cold

Brrr. It’s cold. Again. Good and cold. Gotta love it.

After being almost – warm – enough – to – sit – outside – for – a – few – minutes – in – the – sun.  But it’s all good.

I think I finally figured out that, like Mark Twain once said:

Climate is what we expect. Weather is what we get.

It’s a lot like life. What we want and what we get are often very different. Sometimes because we make poor …

Goodness Comes In Baby Steps

Goodness Comes In Baby Steps

Goodness usually comes in baby steps for me.

I remember when my daughter had her gall bladder removed. Prior to surgery, she was in agonizing pain. When ER tests confirmed a diagnosis and told her that they could remove the culprit, she was so glad.  Me, too.

An anesthesiologist put her to sleep, a surgeon removed the diseased gall bladder, and she began to heal. In short order, she was good as new – grateful it was behind her.

Isn’t life like this? Sometimes, …

When Things Don’t Work Right

by Vickey Pahnke Taylor January 9, 2013
When Things Don't Work Right

Sometimes things just don’t work right. Big or small, we can roll with it or let it turn us on our heads.

Technology, for instance. I know almost nothing about it. When technical things don’t work right, I have no idea what to do in order to fix it. I rely on the charitable goodness of my friend Misty to fix most things that go wrong with the website. When she can’t [and I don’t know she ever finds time with her large family …

My New, Good Year

by Vickey Pahnke Taylor January 3, 2013
My New, Good Year

Even though I’m a few days late, today I’ve made a decision to make 2013 my new, good year. I kind of make this decision every New Year, but this time – it’s different.

If you don’t want to read my short philosophising, please skip right down to Reason Number One for why I’m set to make my new year a good one. :)

Maybe it’s because last year was so crammed full of good and not-so-good experiences. Maybe because I learned tons of new lessons …

A Christmas Gift – Humor is Good!

by Vickey Pahnke Taylor December 20, 2012
A Christmas Gift - Humor is Good!

One good Christmas gift we can give ourselves and the world around us? The gift of good humor.

I have laughed my way through a lot of life, so far… Having learned it is more productive, more effective, and more fun than weeping or wringing my hands. But I’ve done plenty of that, too. It’s just that the years have taught me to wring and weep less [unless they're tears of joy and tenderness] and laugh a lot more often.

It is in my …

Why Do We Love Music?

by Vickey Pahnke Taylor November 27, 2012
Why Do We Love Music?

Why do we love music? It has magical, boundless ability to filter out conflict and to heal. It has a way of building bridges and tearing down walls. It makes life better. It is tightly connected to feelings – and offers a way to grow love. Yep. I believe so.

It has been an integral part of my life, always – soothing, comforting, inspiring and blessing me. It may get me hyped up, feeling bouncy and happy. It might be the trigger to release deep …

Dig Out. Climb Up. Pry Open. Be Happy

by Vickey Pahnke Taylor November 6, 2012
Dig Out. Climb Up. Pry Open. Be Happy

Digging out of the dirt. Climbing up from the hole. Prying open a window [to let in sunlight] during a moment when everything seems [or is, for real] dark and contrary. My Happy has been temporarily displaced.

Most days I’m in a pretty good mood. If I don’t start out that way, I’ve learned a few tricks to flip it around. But sometimes… sometimes, the gray cloud seems to seep into the pores of my body and invade the warmth and sunshine of my …

Must See This Real Love Story!

by Vickey Pahnke Taylor October 26, 2012
Must See This Real Love Story!

This is a Must See, real love story. It’s a picture book, of sorts. Because words really are not needed.

Please take a few moments to enjoy this love story. It will warm your heart, lift your spirit, and “UP” your daily happiness quotient, I promise!

Love helps heal. And… I imagine… the other way around, too!

Love and goodness are two amazing principles. Loyalty is another. Courage and determination add even more dimension.

The only difference between difficulty and tragedy is the …
