Sometimes my own words don’t seem to work. The feelings are all in me…  But they won’t assemble themselves into any kind of proper sequence to share what my feelings are. At least, not so that they are easy to understand.

So,  I’m a quote – aholic. I’ve collected them since I was 12 or 13 years old – for real.  When someone has said something that seems perfect, I figure – why re-invent the wheel? Right? This is the beginning of hundreds of words strung together just right – and they’ve gone into my journal of quotes.

Now, with the gift of technology, we can even create them – or find them – in poster form, or with a beautiful picture.  Good quotes have often made my day, soothed my soul, uplifted my heart. What better place to share them than here- with you- in case one may be exactly what you need?!

That old Sticks and Stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me? Are you kidding me? Words can cut like a sword and wound beyond understanding, if harsh ones are used. But good words – they build, and grow, and strengthen. For me, they make my life a better one.

I have gained insights that stay with me still, years after coming across it. And it has made a difference for good in my life.  Here we go:

On those days when I feel like every bit of hope or strength have been squashed out of my soul, I remember Emily Dickinson’s words. If I am very still, I can hear the faint singing – the chirping of You Can Do It. The sweet chorus that musically whispers that I can do it. Hope rises again, like the sun in the morning.

Faith is an amazing principle. With it, we can hold onto hope. With hope, we may gain an assurance that better things are ahead. I love these words. Many times, I have leaned on this sentence from C. S. Lewis to get me through to the next day – or the next. Something good is always around the corner. The journey includes sunshine and rain, huge happiness and great sadness. It gives us a sampling of the width and breadth and height and depth of life. It’s all good.

And goodness matters!

  1. THis is beautiful and I feel the same way. In the musical “Shrek” there is a song that says the line, “when words fail what will I do?” and I feel that often my words do fail to convey my deep rooted emotions. So until then I will try and use others words to say what I am feeling. 🙂
